Jay Johnson Stained Glass and Jewelry
Just two miles south of the Artist’s Co-Op located in the beautiful Webber Canyon you will find the studio of Jay Johnson. Jay received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from California State University at Fullerton in 1976. Jay's studies were in ceramics.
Jay owned A Stones Throw Pottery in southern California at his commercial pottery for many years. Selling to his partner, the late Eric McKnight and their then apprentice, he moved to Lake Tahoe Nevada and worked in the gaming industry in both Nevada and Colorado for over 28 years. While in Tahoe, Jay became known for his traditional pipestone and soapstone pipes. Carved and inked, his pipes represented carved Buttes, Hills, Lakes and other landscapes. Moving to Colorado with the casino, Jay began working in stained glass in 1998 and later in fused glass. Jay currently sells nation wide to over 44 states from lalusstainedglass.com and bighanddesigns.com. Sculpting, painting, and generally creating on a regular basis, Jay's art is his passion and his profession. In addition to his glass, a line of jewelry has been added to his products.
