Waving Pine Design began with a vision to honor our planet through artwork inspired and derived from nature. At a time when ecosystems are under existential threat, my goal is to promote the thoughtful consumption of all things. This includes art and the materials it is made with.
That is why Waving Pine Design uses materials sustainably sourced from nature and businesses that respect it. By collectively having higher expectations of the companies we support through our purchases, we can carve a path towards a more balanced world. I believe this shift is vital for the future of our planet and all living beings.
The materials I use reflect my appreciation and love for nature. I make my own watercolor paints from earth and mineral pigments, gum arabic powder*, agave syrup, and clove oil; while my oil paints are comprised of the same earth & mineral pigments and walnut oil. These natural pigments are non-toxic and straight from the earth, they even arrive in biodegradable bags.
I source my wood locally by collecting it in my local forests or purchasing it from artisan millers in my area. I strive for an eco-conscious way of living and these materials help me bring that commitment into my work.
The forms and patterns in my designs are inspired by nature. The fluidity and simplicity of my style speaks to a realm beyond the physical, conveying our interconnectedness with the natural world. The reason I create is to share my vision of what’s possible: a compassionate world where we are thoughtful of our impact on the planet and each other.
