Fabric collage artist Julia Kelly, works and lives on the edge of a canyon near the Four Corners of Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Arizona.

Growing up in Northern Colorado, Julia came to the west slope to get her art degree from Fort Lewis College in Durango, where she met a local boy and never left, spending the last few decades restoring an old homestead surrounded by hundred-year-old fruit trees  and outbuildings and raising two daughters and a menagerie of cows, chickens, horses and dogs- all inspiration for her Art. As was teaching Ute, Navajo and rural ranch kiddos Art at Battle Rock School, a historic one room school house down in picturesque McElmo Canyon.

More akin to the domestic than fine art, Julia enjoys putting a new spin on the traditional craft of handiwork, utilizing fabric applique with embroidery embellishments.  Unusual today and in the United States, Kelly's fabric and thread illustrations have been recognized by National Public Radio, appeared in several children's magazines and have been juried into shows across Colorado.
