Lucille Olechowski’s practice bridges glass, architecture, and design, often reaching into illustration, wood, and metal to expand possibilities.
She is drawn to architectural and niche spaces, retrofitting her pieces to harmonize with their surroundings. This approach was shaped through years of teaching and studying, first in Detroit, where she earned a BFA in Glass at the College for Creative Studies and taught 3D design and glassblowing, and later in Hawaii, where immersion in vibrant landscapes deepened her study of textures, patterns, and organic connections. At Cranbrook Academy of Art, she turned toward architecture, exploring the balance between natural forms and built environments. Since recently moving to Durango, CO she has continued this exploration, influenced by the ancient art, plant life, and architecture of the Four Corners region. She began building her own glass studio in 2025, Empty The Cup, which is fully functioning as a space for both making and teaching at her current homestead.
